Teletherapy, also known as online therapy, is a viable option for people wanting to meet with a therapist, but not wanting to travel to a physical office.
Who is Teletherapy Good for?
A lot of people struggle to get out of the house. During COVID-19 with shelter-in-place orders, many people weren’t comfortable leaving the house and being face-to-face with others. For other people, leaving the house is an ongoing struggle. People with agoraphobia, people experiencing panic attacks, and some autistic people, for example, may struggle to go out in public for a myriad of reasons. Other people may have physical limitations that can make it difficult or inconvenient to travel to a physical location.
Teletherapy allows patients to meet with an online therapist from the comforts of their own homes. That means not stressing about transportation arrangements, worrying about making it through traffic, or worrying about taking extra time off of work or life responsibilities.
